An affinity for coffee

Scarlett started off as merely a desire to try and experience true coffee from some of the best coffee regions around the world. After a while this desire manifested in to a mission to bring real, thoughtful and honest coffee to people that sincerely have a passion and taste for authentic coffee and to those willing to broaden their horizons when it comes to the ever-popular hot beverage.
After many tasting sessions, research, learning, trial and error, we stumbled on what we believe was the crucial difference between good coffee and true coffee… roasting.

Our humble origins as two individuals with experience in the beverage industry and an infinite love for coffee led us on the path to creating Scarlett Coffee Roastery, where we now dedicate ourselves to the art of coffee roasting.

We are

a boutique coffee roastery nestled away in the boundary between Angel and Islington. Taking our name from the brilliant red colour of fully ripened coffee cherries, and the famous, elusive Ibis Scarlet.

All our coffees are single origin and sourced from some of the finest growers across the globe. We roast to highlight and emphasise the full and unique character that every coffee bean has to offer, showcasing the farmers’ hard work in all its delicious glory.

We adopted the Scarlet Ibis as our symbol. As bird lovers, we wanted a feathered friend to represent us. Its beautiful colouring and habitat in some of our favourite South American coffee-growing nations make it a natural fit as our spirit animal. After all, it spends almost as much time around coffee as we do!

Unfortunately for fans of another famous pink bird and despite the popular opinion among our regulars, it is not a flamingo. The Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber) is a species of Ibis in the bird family Threskiornithidae. It inhabits tropical South America and part of the Caribbean. In form, it resembles most of the other twenty-seven extant species of Ibis, but its remarkably brilliant scarlet colouration makes it unmistakable.
